MY PHILOSOPHY Essay, Research Paper I try and govern my life by this simple saying, live in the present, learn from the past and plan for the future. Enjoy the company of family as it is now, think about the moral codes that were set forth eons ago, and gain wisdom and knowledge from your future experiences. The statement above being a smiple version of my life philosophy, will be elaborated in the following paragraphs, although still not to its full extent. The world has many different views on morals. Strangely enough everyone thinks they are right. In the text that follows I will attempt to explain certain ideas or principles on religion, life, death and good verses evil. When I was little I believed unquestionally in God, Who is all powerful and all good. But as I grew older, I begin to question what my believes were. If this God is all good than why is there hate and suffering in the world? Why did he send the rain that flooded the whole earth and killed all those people! Those questions I can not answer nor do I think anyone on this earth can answer those questions truthfully. There is a power greater than our own somewhere out there. Churches and priests were needed back in time to set morals and codes to a primitive people. But, now our society has advanced to the point were individuals can decipher what is right and wrong. Excluding the occasional serial killer. But that is why there is police, to enforce the ! laws. I don’t need a priest telling me what is right,or begging for more money. Everybody needs a family. Your family is a main part of growing up and that is why it is sad to see kids in foster homes and on the streets. My family has a big impact on me. I enjoy spending time with them even if we are just sitting around doing nothing. There are many different families on the earth and they all add up to the world’s population. Which needs some form of government to control and watch over it. But if you think about it do we really need a government? The answer to that question is yes. There will always be somebody above you who has more power. Even if you try and abolish the government some form of rule will eventually pop-up. Back to the family. For a normal family to function there has to be marriage. The marriage also has to be between a male and female because that is the way nature planned it. Friendship is a good thing but not absolutely necessary. It is possible to grow-up and lead a naturally perfect life without any friends. Actuall! y having no real fiends teaches you to rely on yourself and to not care what other people think or say. The dictionary definition of knowledge is the familiarity, awareness, or understanding gained through experience or study. Then, I proceeded to look up wisdom and found that it said the understanding of what is true, right and lasting. Can you thus have knowledge without wisdom or visa versa. Yes, wisdom is basically common sense, so you have to be born with it. As you grow your wisdom also grows. Knowledge however must be gained through past experiences, so it to grows with age. A quote I can remember from somewhere, “But are we not all a collection of memories,” pretty much sums it up. Knowledge and wisdom should be used to help better all of society. And to also help other people in there pursuit of memories. Education is a good thing because you can’t get anywhere in an advanced society without it. The education system in American needs to have a serious overhaul though. Why should your future be decided by something thay you memorize, put down on paper, and th! en forget the next day. This is an endless cycle. Temporaily memorize, take test, forget all but the littlest of details. For some students this is a good thing because they know the routine, but for others it is a bad thing. They don’t want to take the time to memorize vocabulary or physics equations. Certain parts of my philosophy may offend or disqust people. But that is another section of and in itself. That also illustrates a very basic point. Everybodies philosophy is different nor does your life philosophy remain the same throughout life. As you grow older your views change. My life philosophy is stuck in constant alteration. It changes because of past experiences, which I reflect upon and will change because of knowledge I will gain in the future. .
