Complex Vs Simple Lifestyle Essay Research Paper

Complexity I agree with Tom Robbins that life is complex opposed to Thoreau?s view that life is simple. The only way that life could be simple for anyone, is if he/she lived all alone with everything needed for life already provided. Even the company of another person would complicate things and make everything a little more complex. Another example of a simple life may be one of a dog or a cat. The only thing they have to do all day is go to the bathroom. But then again, even animals get sick, which in turn makes life for them complex. No matter what, life has to be full of challenges that make it harder. For example, the other day I was driving home from school, when a police officer pulled me over for speeding and gave me a ticket. That in itself makes life complicated for me, because I now have to pay for breaking the law and also because I have not the slightest clue on how to fill out the forms which I am supposed to turn in to the police. I have to write if I plead guilty or not guilty, or if I want to take the class to get it removed from my record. It?s all just very complicated, and that is just a small everyday thing that happens to the majority of people. Life is also filled with other difficult matters such as money. Life these days almost revolves entirely around money. In order to get money we must work and work is hard. If we all lived as Thoreau wanted us to live, we would all be laying around just speaking our minds and doing easy stuff, but in turn, nothing would ever get done. For things to get done we must work, for work there must be a job, for a job there must be education, and for education there must be school. All of these things are to me very complex, and also, all of these things make up life today as we know it.
