The founding fathers have felt firsthand the effects of bad government which is partially responsible for the need to establish their own country. The Declaration of Independence sets the standards for how a government should be set up. The Constitution of the United States was drafted to revise the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution, as originally drafted in 1787 is more Democratic than the Declaration of Independence. Although the Declaration of Independence was created to form a type of democracy, it proves less democratic in its efforts to favor the smaller states. The drafters of the Declaration of Independence had felt that the smaller state governments would be a better safeguard to liberty. The Declaration of Independence The framers of the Constitution created an unprecedented governmental document that has laid the framework for one of the most effective democratic government in the world. The framers created this democratic document by establishing the first governmental system that corrects its own flaws, interprets its own meaning, and changes to fit the needs of the people.
