The Firm is John Grisham’s best book by far! This great novel waswritten by the great American writer, John Grisham, in 1993. It was abestseller of it time.
The main hero of a book is Mitch McDeere, a poor guy with aHarvard law degree, can’t refuse the offer he gets from a small Memphis lawfirm. A brand new BMW, a house for him and his wife in a nice neighborhoodeven. Well, as he started working, everything was fine. But there was a smallcatch… As he went on, he started to realize that his employers were rathercurious (strange). Then he began to snoop around and found out about formeremployees who were «accidentally» killed. As time went on, herealized that his law firm was corrupt. Well, the FBI, who had the firm undersurveillance (watch), was trying to help Mitch get them evidence so they couldindict this company.
Well, it was rather hard for Mitch since he was caught in ablackmail that his employers held behind him. To make a long story short, Mitchhad enough evidence and decided to take it to the FBI. So now the FBI is afterhis indication and his firm wants him dead. If he leaves his firm…he dies! Ifhe stays there…he dies! Unfortunately, as he was about to take an evidence tothe FBI, he was in his office. And a few rooms over, his employers realizedwhat was happening. Mitch received a phone call and was warned that they knew.He took off running. Mitch takes off running, and running, and running, alongwith his wife Abby and Brother Ray. The ending was fairly surprising…
John Grisham’s novel The Firm is a furious page-turner, the kindof book that you don’t want to put down once you’ve started reading it. Themain characters are developed in such a way that the reader cares about theirdestiny.
The Firm was great because the expectation was high. Readers willkeep thinking, «Who are these people Mitch is working for?»… well, when you find out, you may be disappointed. It’s very obvious and it’s theusual enemy John writes about. Very banal, from my point of view. But, even ifyou are not disappointed, that just adds to a great story. True — you can arguethe plot! I recommend this book to any one who likes a good thriller!
