Julius Caesar Essay, Research Paper Julius Caesar 100-44 BC Born in 100 BC, Gaius Julius Caesar became one of the most famous and remembered Romans of all time. His parents were Gaius Caesar and Aurelia. Julius Caesar’s most famous accomplishments include the conquest of Gaul and the invasion of Britain. Caesar was a major player in the struggle for power during Rome’s civil wars. He beat one of his major rivals, Pompey, in 48 BC at the battle of Pharsalus. Although loved by the citizens of Rome, the Senators absolutely despised him. They beleived that he was going to bring an end to the republic and was a treat to the people of Rome. Caesar went over the edge in 44 BC when he asked to become emperor for life of Rome. This outraged the Senate and many of the Roman people. A group of conspirators assassinated Caesar during the Ides Of March in 44 BC, but he was greatly remembered as a great inspiration among the people of Rome. His actions paved the way for later leaders such as Octavian. He once had an affair with Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile.
