Poem: Hail Brutus Essay, Research Paper Hail Brutus This Roman political leader was the noblest, I found no man who I admired like thee, As he was truly honorable and a thoughtful man, And prided himself on his noble integrity. No one was as noble as Brutus, Which explains the taking of his own life. A descendant of Lucius Brutus, he was a quiet, Idealistic man who enjoyed reading and studying. Brutus was a soldier, but gentle was he. He did not envy Caesar, unlike his fellow conspirators. He made one of them with all respect, To the good of all and the state, Unyielding was he, as he stalled to join, But he feared that Caesar’s ambition Would become too dangerous, in his mind, To the future of the republic, which he envisioned. He doth not hate Caesar, for they were friends, shown by his pardon. Mixed in him were great traits, for thy trust of him was great, In his empire and fellow soldiers. Of all save only he was so patriotic and proud, Of his duties thou had given to him. Thou honor doth shown in attacking Cassius For raising money dishonestly and reacting calmly and reasonably To the death of Cassius. I knew in my mind, that he shall fulfill his promises. Thou doth guided in all things by his concepts of honor, Which caused him to be at war with thou self while making decisions. Scholar he was, but childish was he within. Brutus was confronted with defeat, which he prepared for, And with no regard to his stoic philosophy, He took his own life with honor. Over theoretical nature before he was killed By thy triumvirate and dragged through Rome. Brutus went with a sense of despair and fatalism, Knowing that he had been faithful to the principles Embodying the honor and nobility By which thou doth placed so much value throughout his life. But truly within, he was a man, as he nobly accepted his fate.
